Principles of Metrology

20 hours

This is an introductory course on precision measurement instruments used in a machine shop. The course will include practical instruction in the use and care of the following instruments: English and metric outside micrometers and slide verniers, inside and outside calipers, hole gages, surface plates, height gages, dial and dial-test indicators, gage blocks, sine bar, and optical comparator. Instruction will include methods used to measure screw threads.
