Technical Writing

20 Hours

This course is designed to improve the ability of anyone to write, particularly as applied to the workplace. This includes a review of the communication process, analyzing the audience, determining your purpose, defining the scope, setting the tone of a message, what jargon to avoid and consolidation of the ideas to be conveyed. The writing process and the specific steps in it will be analyzed. Basics of grammar, structure and usages will be covered as needed. Specific types of writing such as correspondence, memoranda, technical reports, instructions and manual preparation will be included.
