Certified Claims SpecialistOffered Winter 2012Clark State Community College’s Certified Insurance Claims Specialist (CICS) course prepares individuals to work in the specialized flood insurance claims industry. The curriculum provides technical knowledge necessary for the insurance claims industry and adds a specialization in water restoration. The course is divided into seven unique topics ranging from insurance policy concepts to loss adjusting to water mitigation (a very specialized flood recovery offering). Course is eligible for WIA, TRA and TAA funding. Students are eligible for national certifications in Customer Service, AIC 33, AIC 35, Xactimate and Water Restoration Technician. The eight-week program offers professional training for the following professions:
Class Cost: $4,840 (day and evening programs available) Customer Service Certification - This national certification program is a very powerful and practical customer service training and certification program that will benefit anyone who has to interact with the public or with customers. Students will learn how customer service affects the company’s bottom line as well as five key elements of customer service competency. The course focuses on how to make every customer interaction quick, easy and enjoyable. Participants will learn how to turn thoughts into actions and how to adopt a service attitude that lets customers know they are top priority. AIC 33-Claim Handling Principle/Practices and AIC 35 Property Loss Adjusting - These national certifications discusses property insurance coverage and how the claim is handled in terms of covered perils, policy structure, valuation, and exclusions. The Associate in Claims program teaches you how to reduce time and costs, improve customer satisfaction and retention, and avoid costly lawsuits. This program improves your technical claim handling skills, communication and negotiation skills, good-faith claim handling abilities, and in-depth policy knowledge. These certifications assure students know the process of calculating a claim from start to finish in terms of determining the actual loss amount. Xactimate - Xactimate 27 enables insurance claim and repair professionals to unite and standardize the entire claims process. This product equips you with all of the tools that you need to rapidly create estimates, and view and manage all claim estimating and communication-related tasks through a single, centralized dashboard. Water Mitigation - Students learning industry standards in water loss mitigation, psychrometry (the science of drying), moisture content of different structural materials, health and safety in drying structures, and how to dry structures rapidly without demolition utilizing the latest technology and equipment. Students will participate in flooding a real house with furnishings with over 1,000 gallons of water, extracting the water and drying materials with the use of specialty equipment and meters.
