Directed
Learning Courses
Clark State
Community College is a leader in providing students with alternative
methods of instructional delivery. Directed learning courses
provide a convenient alternative to the traditional classroom.
Directed learning courses are self-paced courses except that
class work must be completed on Clark State's campus using the
provided Directed Learning Lab and its resources. You enroll
and progress through the course in a cohort with fellow students,
following an established calendar of assignments. As long as
you meet the established deadlines for contributions, you can
participate at times convenient for you.
Directed Learning Course Characteristics
- There are
specified enrollment periods and completion deadlines. You
need to complete the coursework in one quarter.
- Generally,
most directed learning classes meet in person. You will contribute
to the class at times convenient for you and during the Directed
Learning Lab's hours of operation, but you will need to meet
established deadlines for assigned activities and the availability
of on-campus laboratories.
- There are
no minimum number of contact hours required.
- You will
do much coursework independently, using textbooks and other
materials. You and your instructor exchange assignments directly.
- Some courses
may require proctored exams. For information on where and when
you may take proctored exams, see specific course details.
