Business
and Applied Technologies
The Business and
Applied Technologies Division offers a variety of degree, certificate
or licensing programs that will help students advance in their current
careers or achieve entry-level requirements for new, exciting and
rewarding occupations. Many courses are available days, evenings and Saturdays; in the traditional classroom setting, online and in self-paced formats.
Accounting, Management, Marketing and Logistics and Supply Chain Management students learn the fundamentals of their
respective professions, the latest in technology, the impact
of the global economy and the importance of teamwork in accomplishing
goals. Specialized courses in electronic business provide the
students the opportunity to study how this new form of commerce
affects traditional businesses as well as start-up on-line companies.
The computer areas provide the latest in training and industry certification preparation for this fast changing and well-paying employment area. Courses and programs provide preparation for programming, networking and computer certifications through Microsoft, Novell, Cisco, Oracle and CompTIA. Students will learn to implement network and information security and wireless networks. They will learn to develop software applications in the .NET environment, and create and manage database in an e-commerce environment.
The Realtime
Reporting program offers two options to students - Judicial Reporting
(formerly Court Reporting) and Broadcast Captioning/CART. The Judicial program has long had a national reputation as an exemplary program and the new Broadcast Captioning/CART option also meets these same high standards. Both programs are approved by the National Court Reporters Association. The Broadcast Captioning/CART program offers graduates
new career opportunities in closed captioning and in providing
realtime translation services to deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
Students will learn in a modern computer-integrated state-of-the-art
courtroom environment and in a captioning studio.
Graphic Design
students mix the fundamentals of fine arts with their application
in the computerized business environment.
Office Administration
and Medical Office Administration students combine the computer
application, writing, administrative and interpersonal skills
required in business and medical offices in the 21st Century.
Students completing
programs in Agriculture and Engineering Technologies have established careers
in computer-aided drafting, manufacturing, industrial maintenance,
golf course maintenance, landscaping and nursery operations or
agribusiness sales and management.
All programs either require or provide the opportunity for students
to participate in work-based learning experiences as part of
their education. Students earn college credits while participating
in a real world work environment.
While the
primary focus of each program is employment upon completion,
transfer options are available for students interested in completing
a four-year degree.
