Handicapped Parking Permit Guidelines

  1. Obtain a Clark State Handicapped Parking Permit application (PDF) from Disability Services, Rhodes Hall, Room 215B. If you have a State of Ohio permit, you do not need a Clark State Handicapped Parking Permit.

  2. Complete the application including physician’s certification and signature.

  3. Return the completed application to Disability Services.

  4. Upon verification of registration and disability, you will be issued a Handicapped Parking Permit. If you need the permit immediately, you will be given the application and a temporary permit good for fourteen (14) days. It is expected that you will return the application within ten (10) days. The permit and Handicapped Parking Permit Guidelines will be sent to you, or you can pick them up in the Disability Services office. You will be ticketed if you do not have an application registered with Campus Police.

  5. The permit expires when indicated by the physician and/or at the end of the current quarter or school year. The dated validation sticker will be on each permit. New stickers are available from Disability Services. You must complete a new application each year, including the physician’s statement and signature.

  6. With Handicapped Parking Permits, students are able to park in any lot that will allow them closer access to their classes. However, spaces designated with handicapped van signs are reserved for those vehicles with wheelchair lifts. These are the only spaces that allow access to vans with lifts, so please be considerate and leave these spaces open.

  7. Students with handicapped parking permits who have classes at the downtown campus will need to push the button on the access gate and identify themselves to gain access.

  8. While we continue to meet the needs of students with disabilities on campus, possession of a handicapped parking permit does not guarantee a space.

  9. If you notice a vehicle without a handicapped permit in a designated space, please report it to the Campus Police at 328-3856. Or if you are unable to find a parking place, please contact Disability Services, Rhodes Hall, Room 215B, 328-6019.
