Adult Students

If you are an adult who has never attended college, you need only to take the placement tests and meet with an advisor before you register for classes.

If you do not have a high school diploma or a GED certificate and are at least 19 years of age, you will be granted conditional admission to the College until you have successfully completed any required developmental courses and earned at least a 2.0 GPA in your first 24 hours of college-level course work. To be eligible for federal financial aid, you must achieve a minimum score on the placement tests.

Prior Learning Portfolio
If your experiences as an employee, skilled volunteer or hobbyist correspond to credit courses offered at Clark State, then the Prior Learning Portfolio Program may help you receive college credit. Learn how to put together a portfolio that details your experiences and matches them to specific courses from the College curriculum.

Proficiency Tests
Proficiency tests are available for many of the courses at Clark State. There are time restrictions for taking proficiency tests, so you should schedule it as far in advance as possible. The fee for taking the test is $15 per credit hour with a minimum charge of $20. You will need to contact the academic division for the course and request to take a proficiency test.
