Rotary Club
of Springfield Scholarship
Purpose
- To provide
scholarship assistance to Clark State students with physical
disabilities
- To aid
in the retention of students with disabilities
- To allow
students with physical disabilities to achieve their personal
and educational goals
Award - two
per year
- May be
used for tuition, fees, books or any other college-related
expense approved by the College. Financial need may be considered
in awarding the scholarship
- The total
annual contribution by the Springfield Rotary Club will be
no more than $2,000. Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded
each year. If a student maintains eligibility, a recipient
may continue his/her scholarship for a second year, for a maximum
award of $2,000 for any one student
- If the
student does not use the entire balance during the academic
year in which the scholarship was awarded, that student may
request to carry over the unused portion to the next academic
year. Requests are made in writing to Academic Support Services
no later than May 1 of the academic year for which the scholarship
was intended. The Rotary Club Scholarship Committee will decide
whether the carryover request will be approved. Any unused
scholarship funds not approved for carryover by the Rotary
Club's Scholarship Committee will be returned to the Springfield
Rotary Club.
Eligibility
- The student
must have a permanent physical disability and, if requested,
provide to the Academic Support Services Office a statement
from his/her physician documenting the disability
- The student
must major in a technical certificate program, two-year technical
degree program, or transfer degree program
- The student
must register for a minimum of six credit hours in two quarters
(Fall, Winter or Spring) during an academic year
- Clark State
students must have a 2.0 cumulative grade point average to
be eligible to apply for the scholarship. Newly admitted students
must have had a 2.0 grade point average from the high school
transcript to be eligible to apply for the scholarship. A scholarship
recipient must maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point
average to continue the scholarship for a second year.
Application
process
- Submit completed
financial aid forms, scholarship application, copy of tax forms
and current transcript to the Financial Aid Office by 5 p.m.,
the last Friday in March.
- The Clark
State Advisor to Students with Disabilities will make the selection
of who receives the scholarship, with the approval of the Scholarship
Committee
Selection
process
- Applications
will be screened by the Scholarship Committee
- Late or
incomplete applications will not be considered
- All decisions
of the Scholarship Committee are final
