Seaman Scholarship
Purpose
- To provide
scholarship assistance to students with severe visual impairments
in order to assist them in their studies at the College
- To aid in
retention of blind and severely impaired students
- To assist
students with severe visual impairments to achieve their educational
goals
Award - as
needed
- This scholarship
may be used for tuition, fees and books, up to the amount awarded
to one or more students. The total amount awarded per year
will not exceed $1,200
- The award
will be paid in three equal payments for Fall, Winter and Spring
quarters
- Scholarship
students may apply to renew their awards. In order to be considered
for subsequent years, students must complete an application
each year for reconsideration
Eligibility
- The student
must have a severe visual impairment and, if requested, provide
to Academic Support Services Office a statement from his/her
physician documenting the disability
- The student
must major in a technical or transfer degree program or in
a certificate program
- The student
must carry a minimum of six credit hours each Fall, Winter
and Spring quarters
Application
process
- Submit completed
financial aid forms, scholarship application, copy of tax forms
and current transcript to the Financial Aid Office by 5 p.m.,
the last Friday in March.
- Applicants
must be recommended by the Clark State advisor to Students
with Disabilities
Selection
process
- Applications
will be screened by the Scholarship Committee
- Late or
incomplete applications will not be considered
- All decisions
of the Scholarship Committee are final
