R. Newell
Elder Scholarship
The R. Newell
Elder Scholarship was established in October 1969 by the Clark
State Board of Trustees. Mr. Elder was one of the first trustees
of the Technical Education Program in Springfield and was instrumental
in choosing the site of the present College campus. Mr. Elder
was also a highly respected leader in the agricultural community.
Purpose
- To provide
scholarship assistance to a deserving agriculture student at
Clark State
- To recognize
previous outstanding academic achievement
- To recognize
leadership potential in the agriculture industry
Award - one
per year
- Covers
tuition and fees, up to $1,000 per year
- The award
will be issued once each year and can be used after September
1 of the application year
- A first-year
recipient is eligible to reapply as a second-year student,
up to a total of eight quarters
Eligibility
- Preference
will be given to a student who majors in an agriculture program;
if no qualified agriculture student applies, then the scholarship
may be awarded to a deserving student in different program
- Must be
a Clark County resident
- Must have
a 2.5 minimum grade point average (high school, college or
a minimum GED score of 53)
- Must carry
a minimum of 12 credit hours for Fall, Winter and Spring quarters
- Must maintain
a 2.5 grade point average for the duration of the scholarship
Application
process for first consideration
Submit completed financial aid forms, scholarship application,
copy of tax forms and current transcript to the Financial Aid Office
by 5 p.m., the last Friday in March.
Selection process
- Applications
will be screened by the Scholarship Committee
- Late or
incomplete applications will not be considered
- All decisions
of the Scholarship Committee are final
