DADCA STEM Scholarship

Purpose
To encourage students toward a career in one of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) fields.

Award

  • The maximum STEM scholarship is $1,000 per academic year. The scholarships will cover tuition, books and other course-required supplies up to the total amount of the scholarship. It can also be used for child care at Clark State’s Early Childhood Education Center.
  • The awards will be announced July 9, 2008, for Fall 2008 Quarter award.
  • The recipient, if funding is available and the recipient is still in good standing, may reapply for a second year.

Eligibility

  • Major program of study must be toward the completion of an associate degree in one of the STEM areas of study as defined by Clark State. Study areas include biological sciences, physical sciences, geosciences, mathematics, engineering, computer science, and technology.
  • Must be enrolled for a minimum of 12 credit hours per quarter (summer not required)
  • Member in good standing of the Dayton Area Defense Contractor’s Association, their spouse or children. (Children do not have to reside with the parents nor be dependent upon their parents for financial support.)
  • U.S. citizen and resident of Ohio
  • Recipients may be an entering first-year or continuing student
  • Recipient must carry a 3.0 minimum grade point average (high school, college or a minimum GED score of 53) and maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average for the duration of the scholarship
  • Recipient must apply for federal financial aid
  • Financial need and academic achievement will be considered

Application Process
Submit the following to the Clark State Foundation Office by Monday, June 2, 2008:

  • Completed financial aid forms
  • Scholarship application (PDF) including typed personal statement (application is available at www.clarkstatefoundation.edu)
  • Identify your relationship to a DADCA member in your statement
  • Official copy of latest transcript

Selection process

  • Applications will be screened by the Clark State Foundation Scholarship Committee
  • Late or incomplete applications will not be considered
  • All decisions of the Scholarship Committee are final
