Gay | Straight Alliance Initiatives

The Gay Straight Alliance is one of the student led organizations on campus. These organizations are avenues for students to express themselves at Clark State. Students are encouraged to cultivate interests and ideas and develop individual talents within an organized atmosphere. This allows them to improve their skills, express their concerns and develop ideas for their futures.

The purpose of the Gay/Straight Alliance is to promote social awareness on campus.

Recent and ongoing projects that the Gay/Straight Alliance have orchestrated include:

  • Voter registration
  • Planning and implementation of the Creative Closet. The Creative Closet provides “Interview” clothing for students as they are going out into the work force. These clothes are gently used donations from faculty and staff.
  • Harvest Moon Dance which is a fall quarter dance that strives to increase student participation in college life and socialization among students.

The Gay/Straight Alliance club formed in the 2008-2009 academic year with three members and has grown in one year to 25 members for the 2009-2010 academic year.
