What log in do I use for Clark State systems?
Student Username: The first five letters of your last name followed by your first initial followed by the last four digits of your student identification number. (If your last name is less than five characters, use your entire last name, first initial, last four digits.) Do not include any spaces, special characters, or capital letters. Your username is printed on your class schedule.
Student Password: Your initial password is your seven-digit student ID number. The student ID number is printed on your class schedule.
Example:
• John Winters’ student ID# = 0025404
• Username = wintej5404
• Password = 0025404
Once you successfully log in using your student ID as your initial default password, you will be asked to change your password on many of the systems at Clark State.
Why do I see an older version of Clark State's website?
There could be a couple of reasons why you may see an old Clark State website. Most likely, your web browser is caching web pages and may be referring to an old web page or your cache is full. This is an easy fix. To empty your cache:
For Internet Explorer: Click on Tools >> Internet Options. Click on the Delete button under Browsing History. On the Delete Browsing History menu, choose Delete files in the Temporary Internet Files section of the menu.
Now that you have deleted all of the temporary files you have accumulated from the Internet, you may want to change your settings so that you don't continue to pull stored web pages. On the Internet Options General tab, click on the Settings button under Browsing History. By selecting "Every time I visit the page," you will see the most current web page each time you visit a website. Click OK.
For Firefox Mozilla: Click on Tools >> Clear Private Data. Check the box for Cache and click Clear Private Data Now.
If clearing the cache does not resolve your problem, please contact the HelpDesk for additional assistance.
Why can't I print from one of the computers on campus?
In order to print from computers on campus, you must first be logged into Novell. This requires you to enter your username and password. See the first FAQ about how to log in to Clark State computer systems. If you are logged into Novell and you still can't print, check that the printer selected has paper. If that doesn't resolve the issue, please contact the HelpDesk for additional assistance.
The computer I was using completely "froze up" on me. What do I do?
Unfortunately, there are times when a computer will mysteriously just stop working. The mouse won't move. The keyboard won't work. The only thing left to do is restart the computer. The way to do this when everything seems to no longer work is to press Ctrl + Alt + Delete at the same time. You should see a Novell screen. First try the Task List and shut down each application. If this doesn't help, you will have to choose the Shutdown option. If you do not get a Novell screen, you will need to press and hold the on/off button on the computer for a few seconds to manually shut the computer off.
