Greene Center Growth

Center Plays Important Role in Growth of the College

Since the Clark State Greene Center first opened its doors in the spring of 2007, the Center has become a vital part of the College’s growth and new program offerings. From rented space on Colonel Glenn Highway to its current home on Pentagon Boulevard, the Center has transformed itself into a full-service campus, offering close to 60 degree and certificate programs.

The facility…
Clark State purchased Hobson Hall on November 5, 2010, solidifying its presence in Greene County. The College sold $8.6 million in bonds and was the second in Ohio to take advantage of the Ohio Building Authority’s State Credit Enhancement Program. Through this program, bonds are sold to investors by the Ohio Building Authority and Clark State makes lease payments to the state building authority, which will pay off the bonds. Purchasing the building this way will save the College $488,000 in interest payments.

"The program serves to help two-year community colleges improve their credit ratings to make their bonds more attractive to investors and interest rates lower," said Kevin Fenlon, assistant director of the Ohio Building Authority.

The academic programs…
The Greene Center currently offers 26 degree options and 26 certificate options. Three new programs have been developed specifically for the Center and the workforce needs of Greene and Montgomery Counties.

The Advanced Technical Intelligence program prepares students for careers in the intelligence field and is delivered in partnership with the Advanced Technical Intelligence Center, located next to the Greene Center.

Geospatial Technology graduates will develop a strong background in geographic information systems and remote sensing and find job opportunities in industries such as municipal, industrial, natural resources and management. The curriculum was developed in partnership with CACI and Woolpert.

Good Samaritan Hospital approached Clark State about creating a Paramedic to RN transition program, which quickly become as popular as the College’s other health-related offerings.

The students…
The number of students attending the Greene Center has increased dramatically from just 50 students in the spring of 2007 to 1,010 in fall 2010. The College as a whole enrolled 5,000 students in Fall Quarter 2010.

Greene Center students live primarily in Greene and Montgomery Counties. The Center opened after Greene County officials approached Clark State about their desire to have a community college located within the county. The current Beavercreek location was chosen because of its convenience and close proximity to I-675.
