News TemplatePublished: 12/5/2011 Clark State is proud to present another exciting event in this season’s Jeff Wyler/Clark State Country Artist Series! The one-and-only Merle Haggard will grace the stage on Sunday, April 22, 2012, at 7 p.m. at the Clark State Performing Arts Center, Kuss Auditorium in downtown Springfield. Tickets are on sale beginning Wednesday, December 7, in-person and by phone at 10 a.m. and online at 12 p.m. As a singer, songwriter, remarkable musician, band leader and historian, Merle Haggard may well be the most well-rounded country talent ever to take the stage. In addition to the 40 #1 hits and scores of top ten songs including "Mama Tried," "Silver Wings" and "Sing Me Back Home," Merle has won just about every music award imaginable. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1994 and was recently honored at the Kennedy Center. Merle's latest album "Working In Tennessee" (released in October 2011) is a collection of self-penned Haggard riches, a couple of classics made famous by Johnny Cash, as well as a new version of Merle's stalwart "Workin' Man Blues" featuring Willie Nelson and Merle's son Ben Haggard. Join us as we proudly present a living legend acknowledging Merle's artistry and his standing as "the poet of the common man." Visit the Clark State Performing Arts Center online for more information. Tickets for Merle Haggard range from $20 (Student) to $59 (Adult) and may be purchased by calling the Performing Arts Center Ticket Office at 937-328-3874 (toll-free 1-866-PAC-TKTS), Tuesday – Friday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Tickets may also be purchased online.
