Office TechnologyClark State Continuing Education offers a career path in Office Technology with a concentration as a medical office specialist. Students are given the opportunity to learn medical applications with an emphasis on interactive labs and “hands-on” activities. Students will be able to broaden their understanding of office and medical principles and practices, and increase their skills through practical applications using both simulated exercises and an internship. This non-credit program is 600 hours of training which spans over two 13-week terms. Medical Office SpecialistIn this 600-hour program (two 13-week terms), you will learn the specialized skills needed to qualify for a challenging job in a medical office. You will learn medical office procedures, medical terminology, CPR, medical billing procedures. In addition, you will receive training in essential office skills such as keyboarding, computer operations, word processing, business communications, grammar and job-seeking skills. In this course, students will learn how to:
A candidate is required to have the ability to concentrate on details; an average aptitude for working with numbers; the ability to sit for long periods of time; legible writing; an eighth grade level, or above, in reading comprehension, language and mathematics skills. A prerequisite for this program is a High School or General Education Development (GED) Diploma. |
