Horticulture Industries - Turf and Landscape Operations OptionThe Horticultural Industries program provides basic preparation for careers in the landscape and turfgrass industries. The campus
grounds, including a greenhouse facility and a one-hole golf course, act as a working laboratory to give students practical training. Clark State students can specialize in turf and landscape operations. Turfgrass science and turf management as well as landscape maintenance are emphasized leading to careers in the lawn care and landscape maintenance industries. The program schedule is designed for full-time students who have completed all prerequisites and who have no college preparatory recommendations. Many individuals, especially part-time students and those taking college preparatory courses, will require additional quarters of study. Students should consult their academic advisor for help in planning their schedules. Learning Outcomes Upon completion of an Associate of Applied Science degree in Turf and Landscape Operations, a graduate will be able to:
High school chemistry, biology, geometry, algebra and keyboarding skills are strongly recommended. Transfer Options Students enrolled in Associate of Applied Business and Associate of Applied Science degree programs are preparing for employment upon graduation from the program. However, at some point many of these students are also interested in completing a baccalaureate degree. A number of colleges or universities have designed baccalaureate completion programs designed for students completing applied degrees. See the Transfer section of the catalog for more information.
