Quarter to Semester Transition

In the Fall of 2012, Clark State Community College will be transitioning from a quarter academic calendar to a semester academic calendar. This transition will align the College’s calendar with other public colleges and universities in Ohio and with more than 90 percent of higher education institutions across the country.

The faculty, staff and administration at Clark State will work with each student to ensure that he or she is able to maintain his or her academic progress before, during and after the transition to semesters.  The guiding principle of our Pledge to Students is that the transition to semesters will not adversely affect the time to graduation or increase the cost of a degree or certificate.

What Students Need to Know:

  • If you graduate before Fall 2012, you WILL NOT be affected by the academic calendar transition.
  • If you begin your studies prior to Fall 2010 on the quarter calendar and do not graduate before Fall 2012, you WILL BE affected by the change and will be considered a "transition" student.
  • Transition students will be fully informed of how to complete their degrees through the use of intensive advising and frequent notifications.
  • Undergraduate students will develop an individualized advising plan called My Advising Plan—MAP for short—once the new degree requirements are finalized.
  • Read the Pledge to Students.
