Smoke-Free Environment
The Board of Trustees of Clark State Community College, in an effort to protect and promote the public health of students, employees and visitors to the College, prohibits smoking in all buildings and vehicles owned and operated by the College. Smokers are expected to show consideration for the health and safety of others at all times.
In addition, front entrances to all buildings on campus are considered non-smoking areas:
Leffel Lane Campus (View Map)
- Front entrances (2) into Rhodes Hall
- SE entrance into Rhodes Hall
- Front entrance (in front of the parking lot) into the TLC
- All front entrances (3) into the ASC
- Bridge at Shull Hall
- South entrances into the LRC
- Front entrance into DRLL
Downtown Springfield Campus (View Map)
- South entrance (in front of parking lot) into the BEC
- Limestone entrance into the HBC
- Limestone entrance into the PAC
Greene Center Campus
- Main entrance into the Greene Center
It is expected that all members of the College community will exercise self-discipline in modifying their behavior and will demonstrate good judgment in respecting the rights of others. It is expected that all members of the College community and visitors will abide by this policy.
Clark State Smoking Penalties
1st Violation: Written Warning
2nd Violation: $15 fine
3rd Violation: Violation of the College's Code of Student Conduct
Appeal Process
Clark State appeals are processed by completing an Appeal Form. This form and your citation must be received by the Vice President of Business Affairs within ten days of the date the citation was issued. The Appeal Form must be filled out completely. The payment of the citation under appeal is suspended without penalty during the appeal process. If the appeal is denied, failure to pay the issued citation within five days from the date of notice will result in a hold on your account (if a student) or a payroll deduction (if an employee). An appeal should be based on the fact that the violation was issued in error or contrary to established regulations.
