Getting Started

Follow the easy steps below to get started at Clark State Community College. Print the New Student Checklist (PDF) for your convenience.

Complete an application for admission
Apply online today or call the Admissions Office at 937/328-6028 to receive an application by mail.

Apply for financial aid
If you need help paying for your education, you will need to complete a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), as well as a Clark State Financial Aid Office application (PDF). Both of these applications are also available in the Financial Aid Office. This is a great time to check out the many scholarships we offer students at Clark State.

Have your transcript sent to Clark State
If you would like to transfer college credits to Clark State, we will need an official copy of your college transcript sent directly from the previous college(s) to the Admissions Office. If you are planning to major in the Realtime Reporting area, you will need to submit official transcripts, both high school and college.

Take the placement testing
Once you're admitted to Clark State, you'll need to visit the Success Center in the Sara T. Landess Technology & Learning Center, Room 117, and take a placement test in reading, writing and math. Placement tests take about two hours to complete and are given Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. No appointment is necessary. The College observes summer hours mid-June through mid-August closing at 2 p.m. on Fridays.

Meet an academic advisor and schedule your classes
After you finish the placement tests, you should visit with an academic advisor and sign up for classes by completing a schedule request card (PDF). Take the card to the Records and Registration Office in Rhodes Hall, Room 220 to register for the classes.

Receive your schedule/invoice
Once you submit your schedule request card to the Records and Registration Office, you will receive your student schedule/invoice. Important information, such as your Clark State e-mail address and student ID number are located on your schedule/invoice.

Pay for classes
Pay tuition and fees by the due date in the Cashier's Office or set up a payment plan. Important information about payment dates can be found in the academic Calendar, the quarterly class schedule or on your schedule/invoice. If you have any questions about your payment, please call the Cashier's Office at 937/328-6048.

Attend an orientation
You are asked to attend an orientation to give you a chance to "learn the ropes" at Clark State and us a chance to welcome you.

Buy your books and get your parking pass
Stop by the Bookstore on the first floor of Rhodes Hall to get your books, supplies and parking pass; we'll help you find what you need. Or visit the online Bookstore and have your books shipped directly to you.

Get your student ID
Beginning the second week of the quarter, photo IDs will be taken in the Records and Registration Office. You will need to bring an existing photo ID with you. Have your ID validated in the Library each quarter so you can check out materials.

Now you're ready for class!
