Examples of Teaching/Learning Assignments, Projects, Methods

  • Five Computer Networking students and a faculty member were involved in an internship at the pacific northwest National laboratory (Richland, WA). This experience provided students with insights into scientific and technology research with a focus on cyber-security.
  • Four Computer networking students participated in an internship which involved open-source intelligence research for the national Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC), at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Students provided formal written reports and briefings to NASIC personnel
  • National Science Foundation Advanced Technological Education grant was awarded to the Computer Networking-Cyber-security program ($154,000 over two years) to provide experiential-based education experiences for students and faculty.

Evidence of Learning Outcome Achievement

  • Pre and post test scores in Networking courses consistently demonstrate a 20% increase in the post-test score.
  • Students test “above average” when tested against externally generated (industry) exam questions
