- Most courses require a comprehensive portfolio which documents learning in that particular course
- Frequent use of real-life situations are included in courses. Students interact with children, parents and community members both in and outside the classroom and gain immediate feedback.
- In the capstone course students are required to compile and present a comprehensive portfolio of all learning that has occurred in each program outcome. This portfolio is presented and defended prior to completion of the program.
Evidence of Learning Outcome Achievement
- Employers report a high level of satisfaction with graduates of the program
- Program just achieved state-wide accreditation (only the 7th program in the state to achieve this). Graduates are eligible for pre Kindergarten licensure.
- Students enrolled in the program consistently rate the value of the program high in supporting their career goals and learning objectives.
- The students’ oral communication, written communication and critical thinking skills consistently improve as they progress through the program as measured by faculty developed rubrics.
