Tanker Truck Training

The training will consist of two days in classroom covering the following areas:

  • Defensive driving techniques as they relate to tankers
  • Characteristics of liquids
  • Rollovers
  • Loading/unloading requirements
  • Personal protection equipment
  • Emergency response information
  • Material safety data sheet information
  • Pre-trip requirements
  • Pro-Tread training and testing

The remainder of the training will be at our driving range in Tremont City and will consist of the following:

  • Performing pre-trip inspections
  • Coupling and uncoupling of the unit
  • Backing skills
  • Road skills

The driving portion of the training can be customized to your needs. The entire training course will be three weeks, but you can opt for less time depending on the requirements of the company you may be going to work for or your own needs.

The following requirements are needed to be eligible for this training:

  • Have a Class "A" CDL
  • Have or be able to obtain the tanker endorsement on your CDL
  • Pass a DOT physical and drug screen
  • Have a good driving record
  • No DWIs or DUIs in the last three years
  • Be interviewed by a member of CTTC
