Truck Driving

Clark State's Commercial Transportation Training Center (CTTC) offers several truck driver programs of varying duration and intensity, for both corporate employees and newcomers to the industry. These truck driver programs are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Programs conclude with the participants obtaining Class "A" or Class "B" CDL licensing and job placement assistance if needed.

All tuition costs include physical, drug screen, CDL permit, CDL test and CDL license fees in addition to all truck driver training materials.

CDL "A" Truck Driver Program

This five-week truck driver course runs Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and starts with 80 hours of classroom instruction that includes defensive driving, logbook and hours of service, map reading and trip planning, vehicle inspection, vehicle familiarization, coupling and uncoupling and backing. Another 120 hours are dedicated to truck training. The cost of the five-week truck driver program is $5,100*.

Range work is designed to allow students to develop their truck driver skills in a controlled environment. These skills consist of:

Right and left turns Alley dock
Shifting skills Safe backing skills
Normal and panic stopping Conventional parallel park

The over-the-road driving portion of the truck driver program consists of training on all types of roads: city, county, state and interstate highways. This will allow our students to get valuable experience in handling a tractor-trailer in all types of traffic situations. Class size ranges from 12-15 students, which allows our school to provide the individual training that might be needed by our students.

The CDL "A" truck driver program is eligible for eight (8) undergraduate college credit hours.

Students who attend any of our CDL "A" truck driver programs can receive the Passenger/School Bus Endorsement training for an additional amount of $500.

CDL "B" Passenger / School Bus Endorsement Program

This 120-hour starts with 80 hours of classroom instruction that includes defensive driving, logbook and hours of service, map reading and trip planning, vehicle inspection, vehicle familiarization and backing. Another 40 hours are dedicated to truck driver training. The cost of the program is $3,000*.

Range work is designed to allow students to develop their truck driver skills in a controlled environment. These skills consist of:

Tractor-Trailer Refresher Program

This three-week course is for experienced truck drivers who hold a valid Class "A" CDL and need to refresh their skills prior to going back to work. The course runs Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and consists of 80 hours of classroom and 80 hours truck driver training. The cost of the three-week program is $3,000*
