Welding

In this nine-week program, students will gain a technical understanding of ARC or MIG (gas, metal, arc) and TIG (gas tungsten arc) welding fundamentals. A welding kit and jacket can be provided at an additional cost, or you may provide your own. The kit consists of the following: hood/lens, proper welding gloves, vise grips, safety glasses, chipping hammer, MIG pliers and wire brush. Appropriate clothing should be worn.

In this course, students will learn:

• The basics of SMAW, (stick welding), GMAW, (MIG welding) and TMAW (TIG welding).
• WEID joint preparation and position

Prepare for these job opportunities:

• Production type welding

Upcoming start dates: January 6 and March 10. This course meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 - 9 p.m. for eight weeks at the Springfield-Clark Career Technology Center, 1901 Selma Road.

Course fee: $775 plus $33 for books. A welding kit for $76 and jacket for $14 are available for purchase.
