Clark State College has bestowed honors on 55 students in various areas including Student Life (Phi Theta Kappa, Student Ambassadors, Student Senate, Physical Therapist Assistant Club), Work Study and Academic Programs with a virtual celebration held on Tuesday, May 4.
Faculty, staff and student organization advisors nominated outstanding students in their programs.
“The accomplishments of our students are even more impressive as they have persevered and successfully navigated through a pandemic. It is an honor to recognize our students for their performance and contributions to Clark State,” said Nina Wiley, dean of student engagement and support services at Clark State.
Cory Gaston was the keynote speaker. Gaston is a 2012 Clark State graduate with Associate of Applied Business degrees in Computer Networking and Cybersecurity. He continued his education at the Devry University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Technology Management and then a master’s degree in Information System Management from Keller Graduate School.
While at Clark State, Cory was an energetic student leader on campus and made his mark by participating in the very first year of the Student Ambassador program. He was recognized as an outstanding student in 2012 for his role as a Student Ambassador.
Gaston worked as a System Administrator at Clark State in 2013 and then joined AEP in 2014 as a Software Developer. Cory’s most recent accomplishments include the ‘2020 Most Impact on IT Culture’ at AEP and obtaining a professional scrum master PSM1.
“The (Student Recognition Night) event was one of the best,” said Wiley. “Cory’s keynote was so impactful, and the program went very smoothly.”
