CDL "A" Truck Driver Program

This five-week truck driver course runs Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and starts with 80 hours of classroom instruction that includes defensive driving, logbook and hours of service, map reading and trip planning, vehicle inspection, vehicle familiarization, coupling and uncoupling and backing. Another 120 hours are dedicated to truck training. The cost of the five-week truck driver program is $5,500*.

Range work is designed to allow students to develop their truck driver skills in a controlled environment. These skills consist of:

Right and left turns  •  Alley dock  •  Shifting skills  •  Safe backing skills
Normal and panic stopping  •  Conventional parallel park

The over-the-road driving portion of the truck driver program consists of training on all types of roads: city, county, state and interstate highways. This will allow our students to get valuable experience in handling a tractor-trailer in all types of traffic situations. Class size ranges from 15 students, which allows our school to provide the individual training that might be needed by our students.
