Clark State Community College President Dr. Jo Alice Blondin has been named to the 2018 BizWomen Power 50 list by the Dayton Business Journal. This marks Blondin’s fifth consecutive year as a BizWomen Power 50 honoree.
“I am truly honored and humbled to be included with such incredible women in the Dayton region,” said Blondin. “Without a doubt, a strong Board of Trustees and dedicated faculty, staff and students are the keys to Clark State’s leadership.”
Dr. Theresa Felder, senior vice president of student success for Clark State said it has been an honor to work with Dr. Blondin over the past five years.“Her commitment to our students is at the forefront of everything we do at Clark State,” she said. “As a result, Clark State has shown great progress in improving student success under her leadership.”
Jo Alice Blondin, Ph.D., became the fifth president of Clark State Community College on July 1, 2013.Prior to Clark State, Dr. Blondin served as chancellor of Arkansas Tech University–Ozark Campus and professor of English for seven years, as well as chief academic officer, chief student officer, department chair of English, Communication and Social Sciences and instructor of English. She holds a Ph.D. in English from Arizona State University; Master of Arts in English from Arizona State University; and Bachelor of Arts from Purdue University majoring in English with a minor in Spanish.
Dr. Blondin’s national, regional and local service strengthens Clark State’s responsiveness to workforce and community needs.To that end, Dr. Blondin is the immediate past president of the National Council for Workforce Education and on the boards of the Higher Learning Commission and the American Association of Community Colleges.Additionally, she serves on the boards of the Dayton Development Coalition, Dayton Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce.
She was a featured presenter at the Women in Business Networking (WiBN) conference this month where she spoke on mentoring and was also awarded the 2018 American Association of Community College (AACC) CEO/Board Relationship Award of Excellence. The AACC Excellence Awards recognize exceptional work among the nation’s two-year colleges.
