The Clark State Community College Board of Trustees met last night and approved the appointment of Dr. Amit B. Singh as the new vice president of academic affairs. Singh, currently the dean of academic affairs/chief academic officer at Cuyahoga Community College's Western Campus, will begin his new position on March 17, 2014.

Presentations included:

  • Dr. Jo Alice Blondin gave an overview of her first six months as president, highlighting her community engagement activities, the College's strategic planning process and her focus on student success.
  • Dean Jane Cape introduced Precision Agriculture and announced a Stakeholder’s Meeting will take place on Friday, January 24, 2014, from 12 to 3 p.m. at the Brinkman Educational Center in downtown Springfield. Business leaders working in the fields of UAS and agriculture will evaluate proposed curriculum for this new program.
  • Vice President Joe Jackson shared a new shared services agreement with Central State University and Wright State University that is part of the Ohio Higher Education Shared Services Consortium. This program will decrease the College's carbon footprint by over 82 percent as it moves from 245 to 45 printing devices and 14 makes to 2. Clark State will save over $61,000 a year working together with Xerox, Central State University and Wright State University to develop standardized pricing.
  • Cynthia Applin, director of institutional research, and Matt Franz, director of IT, unveiled iDashboard, a business intelligence dashboard product that will provide employees with real-time data that can be used for decision making.
