Clark State Board of Trustees Approves Tuition Challenge Program

Clark State Board of Trustees Approves Tuition Challenge Program

April 7, 2015

The Clark State Board of Trustees approved a motion to implement a Tuition Challenge Program which could save full-time students up to ten percent on tuition costs. Pending approval by the Chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents, the program will be available beginning with the Fall 2015 Semester.

Ohio Senate Bill 4 will require each state institution of higher education to develop a plan reducing in-state cost of attendance by a minimum of five percent in time for the 2016-17 academic year. Clark State’s Tuition Challenge Program will not only meet those requirements, but also allows for the opportunity to exceed them.

“Clark State and its Board of Trustees are committed to ensuring the affordability of our programs,” said Clark State President Dr. Jo Alice Blondin. “We are also focusing on graduation and completion, so this new program was a logical incentive to achieve both goals.”

The Tuition Challenge Program will offer a five percent tuition rebate to students enrolled in a minimum of 12 course credit hours, and a ten percent tuition rebate to students enrolled in 15 or more course credit hours. Students must achieve a C or better in each class and subsequently enroll as a full-time student the following semester in order to receive the tuition rebate.

The concept of the Tuition Challenge Program is to encourage students to enroll full-time each semester, thus, remaining on the fast-track to graduation.
