Clark State Campus Buildings to Remain Closed Through May 1; College Encourages Students, Employees to Follow “Stay at Home” Directive

March 30, 2020

In response to the extended “Stay at Home” order issued by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, all Clark State Community College locations will remain closed through May 1. This closure applies to all campus buildings on all Clark State locations in order to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

“These are critical times for students, and we will continue to be diligent in ensuring and supporting their success during this unprecedented time,” said Dr. Jo Alice Blondin, president of Clark State. “The safety of our Clark State students and employees is of the utmost importance. We will adhere to the orders and guidance set forth by Ohio Governor DeWine to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.”

Blondin said communication is key. She encourages students to keep an open line of communication with their faculty members and employees with their supervisors, and check-in frequently for the latest campus updates.

While most Clark State employees will be working from home during this time, essential personnel will report to campus locations to complete business continuity tasks such as payroll and physical plant operations.

Clark State students will continue distance-learning education courses (online or alternate format) for the remainder of the spring semester which ends on May 8. Clinical experiences are also suspended during this time.

Respecting the statewide call for physical distancing, events scheduled at the Clark State Performing Arts Center (PAC) and Hollenbeck Bayley Creative Arts and Conference Center have also been canceled or postponed now through May 10, including the commencement ceremony. The commencement ceremony, originally scheduled for May 9 at the PAC, has been rescheduled for Saturday, August 15.
