Clark State Community College is now accepting bid proposals from companies interested in establishing a health care facility on the Leffel Lane campus in Springfield. Clark State is seeking a partner with the shared vision of better healthcare for students, faculty, employees and the community at large. 

“We have highly accessible space available for renovation,” said Larry Wakefield, interim vice president for business affairs for Clark State. “We are looking for a strategic partner to invest in development and operation of a health care facility.”

The proposed location for the health care facility is the first floor of the Applied Science Center, one of Clark State’s busiest classroom buildings and the location of most nursing and allied science classes.

“We are also interested in a partner who will engage our students and faculty in a positive learning experience,” said Wakefield.

Clark State employs approximately 235 full-time employees with an additional 400 adjunct and/or contract employees. Approximately 6,400 students are enrolled during a given semester, and the college serves nearly 9,000 unduplicated students over the course of the year. 

“The average age of our students is 27 and the average age of our faculty is 48,” said Wakefield. “Faculty and staff are currently insured through Medical Mutual of Ohio and students may participate in a student health insurance program on a voluntary basis.”

In addition to the Clark State community, the health care facility will serve the businesses and residents of south Springfield. As a complement to primary care, Clark State anticipates the need for pre-employment physicals, fit for duty/return to work and other worker’s compensation related services.
