Clark State to Hold Convocation August 12, as President Blondin begins 7th Year with College

August 6, 2019

Clark State Community College President Dr. Jo Alice Blondin will host her seventh Convocation on Monday, August 12. Blondin entered her seventh year of service with the College in July of this year.

“Clark State has accomplished so much in the past six years, and it is time to celebrate—especially our successes with students,” said Blondin.

The theme for Convocation this year is: “And the Winner Is….Our Students!”

“Everything we do at Clark State is centered around how to best serve our students and to ensure that they have the education and skills necessary to contribute to the workforce or pursue a bachelor’s degree,” said Blondin. “Clark State is known for its unwavering commitment to student success, and this commitment starts with our strong and visionary Board of Trustees.”

Convocation will focus on the services offered through Clark State’s Office of Student Support. Started in the summer of 2018, the Office of Student Support leverages community and college resources to enable students to address those barriers and complete their degrees.

“Clark State has spent much time in the past several years identifying ways to better serve students who have barriers to attendance, such as transportation, food, housing, childcare and work issues,” she said.

Blondin said the information shared at Convocation will include student success stories, an overview of the Ohio state budget that was just passed and its positive impact on Clark State, and updates regarding federal policies that affect higher education in general and community colleges in particular.

Clark State Convocation will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Hollenbeck Bayley Creative Arts and Conference Center. All Clark State campus locations will open at 11:30 a.m. following Convocation.
