Clark State Will Host College Awareness Event at Greene Center Campus, Beavercreek

April 13, 2015

Clark State Community College will host a college awareness event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, April 18 at the Greene Center Campus, 3775 Pentagon Boulevard, Beavercreek.

Clark State offers more than 120 degrees and certificates. Ronald Gordon, director of student services said this is the first event of this kind at the Clark State Greene Center Campus. “The purpose of the event is to bring awareness to the community that starting and completing college is possible at Clark State’s Beavercreek Campus,” he said.

Gordon said students interested in moving forward to obtain a four-year degree are able to complete their first two years at the Clark State Greene Center Campus and work with several transfer partner institutions to reach their goal. “This event will provide an opportunity for the community to get many of their questions answered along with a chance to explore potential degree options.”

Several transfer degree partners will also be on-hand at the event, including: Wright State University, Wittenberg University, The Ohio State University, Antioch University Midwest, Ohio University, Central State University, Franklin University, Urbana University, Miami University and the University of Cincinnati.

The event is free and open to anyone interested in obtaining more information about college for themselves or someone they know. Gordon said Clark State also has opportunities for short-term certifications for those who are currently in the workforce, but may want to enhance existing skills.

“There will be something for everyone that day,” said Gordon. “Clark State faculty and staff will be available to discuss high demand career fields such as HVAC, medical lab, nursing and geospatial technology, to name a few.” Faculty and staff will also be available to discuss academic programs and services and offer guidance to those ready to start their college career, but uncertain of what to pursue as a degree.

A variety of food truck vendors will also be at the event, including: G’s Cue BBQ, Hunger Payne and Horseless Buggy. There will be prize drawings and giveaways as well.

“Clark State has a long and strong history of serving the community. Our Beavercreek Campus is now bringing that same dedication to Greene County,” said Theresa Felder, vice president of student affairs and Greene Center operations. “The college awareness event is our opportunity to showcase our campus, the many fine partnerships we have with four-year institutions and our excellent academic and workforce development programs. Above all, it is an opportunity to show that college is a possibility for everyone at Clark State’s Beavercreek Campus.”
