Clark State Will Offer Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Technical Intelligence

January 8, 2016

Clark State Community College, in partnership with Wright State University’s Advanced Technical Intelligence Center (ATIC), will offer a post graduate certificate in Advanced Technical Intelligence.

The Advanced Technical Intelligence Certificate was offered previously as an associate degree. “It became more appropriate to offer the ATI program as a post graduate certificate because to work in the intelligence community, a bachelor’s degree is often required,” said Toni Overholser, director of business and community development for Clark State.

The nine-month certificate program was developed in response to industry needs and is intended to accommodate working professionals desiring to further their career in technical intelligence. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. beginning March 1 at Clark State’s Greene Center campus in Beavercreek. The enrollment deadline is February 23.

Tim Shaw, senior director of operations for ATIC at WSRI, said prospective students must complete a Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI) background check, be a citizen of the United States and qualify for a government security clearance to enter the program. A bachelor’s degree is required, and a degree in a STEM-related field is preferred.

“We provide nationally recognized intelligence training,” he said. “The program addresses the intelligence community’s workforce needs in the region and across the nation.”

Areas of study for the program include: introduction to the intelligence community, fundamentals of remote sensing in intelligence, introduction to radar and synthetic aperture radar, introduction to large-area surveillance and an advanced technical intelligence capstone.

“The ATI Certificate program is offered as either a credit or a non-credit option, and the total cost is $3,800.” said Overholser.

Overholser said Clark State and ATIC have a longstanding partnership in the cutting-edge field of advanced intelligence. “ATIC is the authority in this area,” she said. “It’s an in-demand and exciting career option.”
