Rick Springfield "Stripped Down" Tour February 14, 2017, at the Clark State Performing Arts Center

December 1, 2016

Rick Springfield’s hugely successful Stripped Down tour comes to Springfield at 7:30 p.m. at the Clark State Performing Arts Center.

“I am so pleased we will be able to present the Rick Springfield Stripped Down tour,” said Adele Adkins, executive director of the Clark State Performing Arts Center. “He is such a unique personality. His popularity spans from young people up through the fans that loved him long ago on General Hospital. He has a truly diverse fan base.”

With 25 million records sold, a Grammy® Award for his No. 1 smash-hit Jessie’s Girl, and whopping 17 Top-40 hits including Don’t Talk to Strangers, An Affair of the Heart, I've Done Everything for You, Love Somebody and Human Touch, Springfield has no intention of taking his foot off the accelerator. “I put everything I've got into making records,” he says. “Sometimes people think they have you pegged but I trust my music to show them otherwise.”

Never one to be confined to the recording studio where the music is born, Springfield has toured for over 30 years, hand-delivering the hits to millions of fans worldwide via his dynamic live shows.  His concerts are legendary with their rock heavy, high energy full band sets. However, in fall 2013 Springfield felt it was time to expand his live performance options. Hence the solo Stripped Down tour was created to bring an intimate yet still lively performance to fans. The singer incorporates personal stories about his music and life into the show and even adds a question and answer segment as a way to truly connect with his audience. The Stripped Down tour gives Springfield a chance to perform some of his favorite songs that he has written over the years that never quite fit in his full band sets.

He’s an accomplished actor who most recently starred opposite Meryl Streep in the feature film Ricki and the Flash, gave a chameleonic performance as the creepy Dr. Pitlor in HBO’s prestige drama True Detective and is earning great reviews for his portrayal of Lucifer this season on the CW hit, Supernatural. As an author, he has released two New York Times bestsellers, one of which, Magnificent Vibration is out in paperback.

In early 2013, Springfield collaborated with The Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl on the song, The Man That Never Was, for the Sound City soundtrack, Sound City:  Real to Reel. At the 2014 Grammy Awards the album won for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media. In May 2014, Springfield was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
