Turn Your AP Scores Into College Credit!

The Advanced Placement Program, offered by the College Board, provides high school students the opportunity to earn college credit by taking exams in 34 introductory courses across 20 subject areas.

If you plan to take an AP exam, request to have your scores sent to Clark State College using code 0777. If you’ve already taken an AP exam, contact the College Board to have your scores sent to Clark State.

The State of Ohio, working with the University System of Ohio, has established policies to make the transition from high school to college — and between Ohio’s public colleges and universities — easier. These policies are:

  • Students who score 3 or higher on an AP exam will receive credit for the corresponding course(s) in that subject area.
  • Any general education credits earned will count toward graduation and fulfill general education requirements if the equivalent course satisfies that requirement.
  • If there isn’t an equivalent course for a completed AP exam, students will receive elective or area-specific credit in the related academic discipline, which may also count toward graduation if electives are available within the major.
  • Higher scores of 4 or 5 may qualify students for additional credit
  • For disciplines with tightly linked course sequences — especially in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) — students are encouraged to consult with advising staff to ensure they are prepared for advanced coursework.
