Megan Platfoot, program coordinator, and Lindsee Adams, clinical coordinator, in Clark State College’s diagnostic medical sonography program were recently recognized by Greater Dayton Imaging Professionals for their contributions to education and mentorship in the field.

Platfoot received the Software Sonographer Impact Mentor and Education Award, while Adams received an Education Award. Both awards honor professionals who share knowledge and guide the next generation of sonographers.

“This recognition means a great deal to me, not just as a professional, but as someone who truly believes in the impact mentorship and education can have on people,” said Platfoot who was nominated by students. “I am grateful for the opportunity to help others grow and excited to continue supporting the next generation of sonography professionals. Students remind me that learning is a shared journey.”

Platfoot developed Clark State’s diagnostic medical sonography program, which prepares students to assist physicians in determining medical diagnoses and treatment plans through ultrasound imaging. Her past honors include the 2024 education award, being named to the Dayton Business Journal’s 2024 Forty Under 40 list, receiving the 2023 Excellence in Sonography Distinguished Educator Award from BB Imaging and earning program accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.

Adams said she was honored to receive the Education Award, particularly because the nomination came from her students as well.

“It means a great deal to know that the work I put into supporting students is seen and felt,” Adams said. “My priority has always been to create an environment where students feel supported, heard and understood throughout their time in the program.”

Clark State’s diagnostic medical sonography program prepares students for careers in health care through hands-on training, clinical experiences and instruction using industry-standard equipment. Graduates are prepared to work in hospitals, clinics and medical offices and to pursue national credentialing exams.
