Community invited to welcome president Evon Walters
The Clark State College Board of Trustees invites the community to a welcome reception honoring Evon Walters, Ed.D., the sixth president of Clark State College, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sept. 1 at the Hollenbeck Bayley Creative Arts and Conference Center, 275 S. Limestone St. in Springfield. Refreshments will be served.
The reception is an opportunity for community members, business and industry professionals, elected officials, alumni, donors, faculty, staff and students to meet Walters and celebrate the beginning of his presidency. Walters officially began serving as president on July 1. He brings 25 years of higher education leadership experience and most recently served as vice president of strategic initiatives and community engagement at the Community College of Allegheny County in Pittsburgh, Pa.
“One of the things I’ve enjoyed most during my first two months at Clark State has been meeting the remarkable people who make this college and our communities so special. Their passion, commitment and genuine love for the communities they serve are truly inspiring. Their stories, energy and dedication have reinforced for me that what makes a community extraordinary isn’t simply where we live or work, but the people who choose to invest their hearts, talents and time to make it stronger and better for everyone,” said Walters. “That’s why I believe higher education is at its best when it is deeply connected to the community. I’m excited to build meaningful relationships that create new opportunities for our students, advance the communities we serve and help strengthen the entire region.”
Founded in 1962, Clark State College serves more than 5,000 students annually through associate and bachelor’s degrees, certificate programs, workforce training and College Credit Plus opportunities. With locations in Springfield, Beavercreek, Bellefontaine and Xenia, the college continues to provide affordable, high-quality education and workforce programming.
The welcome reception is free and open to the public. Those planning to attend are encouraged to RSVP by Aug. 25 at go.clarkstate.edu/meet-dr-walters.
