Overview

Interested in starting a career in law enforcement? The basic peace officer certificate prepares you to meet the requirements of the Ohio Police Officer Training Council and positions you to take the state certification exam. Offered in cooperation with local law enforcement agencies and the state of Ohio, this intensive program covers administration, legal studies, human relations, firearms, defensive tactics, driving, traffic enforcement, patrol procedures, investigations, civil disorder response, homeland security, first aid and physical conditioning. Classes are offered both day and evenings. Graduates may also apply these credentials toward a criminal justice, corrections associate degree or a criminal justice, law enforcement associate degree.
