Overview
Ready to get certified and start a career controlling weeds and pests? The weed and pest management certificate provides the technical knowledge and hands-on training required for careers in crop protection and pest control. Through courses in pesticide safety and application, weed science, plant pathology and plant insect pests, you’ll learn to identify, prevent and control agricultural pests effectively and safely. The program aligns with the Ohio Department of Agriculture Private and Commercial Pesticide Applicator licenses, and students earn a license upon completing the Pesticide Safety and Application course. This short, focused certificate is ideal for quickly entering the workforce or enhancing an existing agriculture career and can also be stacked into an associate degree in related agriculture business or agriculture general transfer programs.
