"Little Women" Welcome to the Show!
Welcome From the Producer Maggie Cooper
Hello and welcome to Clark State's production of "Little Women!"
I know all of our lives are busy and there are many things to enjoy on the weekends, and I thank you so much for choosing to spend your time here with us.
This story has been meaningful for our cast and crew to bring to life and I hope it resonates with you as well. The dedication and heart this group has put into this production has been incredible to watch and I’m proud to share their work with you tonight.
At Clark State, theatre is more than just a course of study. It’s a hands-on environment where students develop their skills through real experiences. From operating lights and managing the stage to building scenery or bringing characters to life onstage, our students learn by doing. These opportunities help prepare them to continue their education at four-year institutions or pursue careers in entertainment and technical theatre.
If this production inspires you, there are many ways you can be involved! You can take theatre classes at Clark State, volunteer as an usher for events at the Performing Arts Center or continue to support live theatre by attending events. Without you, our audience, there wouldn't be a show. You are truly the most important piece.
As Beth often says to Jo, “Tell me a story.” And we are here to tell you ours.
Enjoy the show!

Welcome From the Director Jim Arter
When we get right down to it we all want to be allowed to grow up; to be part of this world; to have the permission, the acceptance and the respect to be who we are as a person. That is what this play is about.
These are the war years, the Civil War, where a house divided against itself cannot stand. It is when a country built upon an idea and an ideal splits against itself, when all are not given the empowerment to partake in that ideal. Here are nine audacious actors portraying 17 roles. Four actors will depict 12 complimentary characters.
Oh, this is funny, it moves fast and you will view much of what normally happens off stage occurring right before you. However, this play presents questions that were always there even if modern words and sensibilities hadn’t entered our lexicon and understanding.
The Clark State theatre arts program is honored to present Kate Hamill’s coming of age story from Louisa May Alcott’s classic, "Little Women."
Enjoy the show!
