Spain to help shape national standards for student supports

The Association on Higher Education and Disability has appointed Elecia Spain, Clark State College associate dean of access and retention, to serve on a task force that shapes and updates national standards for evaluating disability documentation and accommodation requests in higher education. New directed learning lab opens on Xenia campus

Located at 334 Progress Drive, the lab is poised to benefit both students and local industries by providing high-demand technical training in a flexible and accessible environment.

Open House on Aug. 27 for newly renovated Bellefontaine location

Clark State College invites the community to celebrate the opening of its newly renovated building at the Clark State Bellefontaine location on the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center campus, 2280 St. Rt. 540 in Bellefontaine. The Open House will take place from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. on Aug. 27 with a brief presentation beginning at 6:15 p.m., followed by tours of the facility.

Charlton to lead new school focused on allied health programs

Eric Charlton, Ph.D., has joined Clark State College as dean of the new School of Allied Health and Public Services. The school was created following the Ohio Department of Higher Education’s approval of Clark State’s new bachelor’s degree in nursing. What was previously the School of Health, Human and Public Services is now two separate academic divisions: the School of Nursing and the School of Allied Health and Public Services.

Two Clark State College employees - Brittany Coomes, arts and sciences instructor, and Gigi Minter, financial aid director - have graduated as fellows of the Ohio Association of Community Colleges’ Leadership Academy for Student Success.  This year-long, highly-regarded program brings together faculty and staff from across the state to deepen leadership skills, exchange ideas and strengthen strategies that drive student achievement.

Search begins for Clark State president

In May, Jo Alice Blondin, Ph.D., president of Clark State College in Springfield, Ohio, announced her plans to retire in June 2026 after 33 distinguished years of service to higher education. Blondin became the fifth President of Clark State College in July 2013 and will have served in this role for 13 years. Clark State has now partnered with the Association of Governing Boards in the search process for a new president.
