Overview

Interested in building the skills needed for a career in firefighting? The firefighter I certificate will get you career-ready, meeting the NFPA 1001 Standard for Firefighter Professional Qualifications. In this 156-hour program, you learn to operate on the fire ground, initiate fire attack inside structures and master life-saving skills that keep both firefighters and the public safe. The curriculum covers fire department organization and safety, fire behavior, building construction, ventilation and tools, salvage and overhaul, ground ladders, hazardous materials operations and more. You also gain basic first aid and CPR skills, along with eight hours of hands-on driving for CEVO certification. Completing this certificate prepares you to advance to the firefighter II certificate.
