Overview

Have you always wanted to be a volunteer firefighter? The firefighter, volunteer certificate is a 36-hour program that introduces you to entry-level firefighting skills. Through classroom instruction and practical experiences, you will learn the fundamentals of fire department organization and safety, basic ground ladder use, hose evolutions and essential tools and equipment. The course also covers self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), personal protective equipment, basic fire control and ventilation techniques, fire behavior and using portable fire extinguishers. This program provides the minimum training required by the State of Ohio, giving volunteers a solid foundation for future firefighting training.

Accredited: The Firefighter program is accredited by the Ohio Department of Public Safety Services, Division of Fire Services.
