Echocardiography Certificate

Echocardiography Certificate

This program is available at the Online and Springfield - Leffel Lane locations.

Echocardiographers, also known as cardiac sonographers, are healthcare professionals specially trained to use imaging technology to help physicians diagnose issues within the cardiac system.

Our Cross Training Echocardiography Certificate Program is designed to help you learn how to perform echocardiograms using sound waves to produce images of the heart. This cross-training certificate is intended for sonographers who hold an active credential as a registered sonographer and are interested in learning about the echocardiography specialty.

Instruction is delivered through a combination of online didactic coursework and an in-person laboratory component. If you are currently performing echocardiography in a clinical setting, you may be eligible to receive prior learning credit for the in-person scanning requirement. Please contact the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program coordinator for more information.

Students must be employed as a sonographer at the time of enrollment or have the permission of the program coordinator.

In addition to the above requirement, sonographers who are interested in taking this certificate must:

• hold an active credential with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)

OR

• hold an active RVS credential with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)

Approval of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program coordinator is required prior to admission into the echocardiography certificate.

Non-Clark State alumni may be required to meet with the program coordinator prior to enrollment.
