Transferring Credits

Save money by transferring your college credits.

You can be granted credit toward a degree at Clark State for work completed at other accredited colleges and universities. The same is true if you transfer Clark State credits to another college. It is at the discretion of the receiving institution as to what credit if any will be granted based on your academic transcript and the requirements for each program. Transferring credits from Clark State can reduce the cost of earning a bachelor's degree by thousands of dollars.

Many students already have college credit when they come to Clark State. When you apply, make sure you send us your official transcripts or make an appointment with one of our advisors to make sure your courses meet Clark State’s transfer requirements, and you get credit for the classes you’ve already taken.

Admission to an institution, however, does not guarantee that a transfer student will be automatically admitted to all majors, minors or fields of concentration at that institution. Once admitted, you follow the same regulations governing applicability of catalog requirements as all other students, such as higher GPAs required for admission into specific colleges or programs. Furthermore, transfer students have the same class standing and other privileges as native students on the basis of the number of credits earned. All residency requirements must be successfully completed at the receiving institution prior to the granting of a degree.

If you disagree with the application of transfer credit by the receiving institution, you have the right to appeal the decision. Each institution is required to make its appeals process available to you; our transfer appeal form can be found below.

Ohio Transfer 36

Students meeting the requirements of the Ohio Transfer 36 (OT36) are subject to the following conditions:

  • The policy encourages receiving institutions to give preferential consideration for admission if you complete the OT36 and either the Associate of Arts or the Associate of Science degrees. You will be able to transfer all courses in which you received a passing grade of D or better. You must have an overall grade point average of 2.0 to be given credit for the OT36.
  • The policy also encourages receiving institutions to give preferential consideration for admission if you complete the OT36 with a C or better in each course and 60 semester hours. You must have an overall grade point average of 2.0 to be given credit for the OT36, and only courses in which a C or better has been earned will transfer.
  • The policy encourages receiving institutions to admit on a non-preferential consideration basis students who complete the OT36 with a grade of C or better in each course and fewer than 60 semester hours. You will be able to transfer all courses with grade of C or better.
