Chalk de Peace Presents a Night of Comedy at Clark State Performing Arts Center (1)

March 15, 2023

The Clark State Performing Arts Center will host a Night of Comedy produced by Chalk de Peace in the Turner Studio Theater at 8 p.m., Friday, March 24.

Featured comedians include Dawn B, Nef Johnson, Tony B. Cruz, and Hood Panda.

Dawn “Dawn B” Alexander, a comedienne, actress, and radio personality hailing from Chicago IL, began her career over 20 years ago and has performed around the country and internationally alongside Charlie Murphy, Donnell Rawlings, DL Hughley and Faizon Love. Her raw talent and quick wit for comedy has always been in her soul.

Nef Johnson is a standup comedian, host, and writer with a biting wit, skill for wordplay, and an occasional deadpan delivery. He hails from Columbus, OH, with ties to Chicago. Nef gains much of his material through traveling and personal life experiences. A regular guest on numerous podcasts, he shares his thoughts on hot topics in a blue, anecdotal comedic style and is more transparent than your best friend.

Tony B. Cruz is a stand-up comedian based out of Columbus, OH. As a 1st -generation Mexican, Tony is no stranger to borders. He enjoys making light hearted fun about any topic - on both sides of the fence.

Hood Panda is a Columbus, OH icon! Now rolling his way through comedy, you can expect shocking giggles from this rollerblading cat daddy.

Chalk de Peace Comedy shows are best explained by experience. Attendees have shared that the Chalk De Peace comedy shows “are epic and always enjoyed.” These comedy shows are guaranteed to have you laughing.

Though not a comedian herself, Tisa Braddy, owner and producer of Chalk de Peace, has a love for the craft.

“(I am) a community liaison and motivational speaker dedicated to building community, while being aligned to the mission of those partners and staying committed to ‘making a mark on the world in a peaceful manner,’” said Braddy. “The hope is to continue to bring high quality shows to the community.”

A second Night of Comedy is being planned for May 20 with comedians to be announced soon.

Tickets for a Night of Comedy are $22 (plus fees) and can be purchased online at etix.com or by calling the Ticket Office at 937.328.3874. The Clark State PAC and Turner Studio Theatre is located at 300 South Fountain Avenue in Springfield.
