Clark State TAP Program to Hold Auditions for Fall Production of Red Herring

August 29, 2022

The Clark State College Theatre Arts Program (TAP) will hold auditions for the fall production of Red Herring by Michael Hollinger.

Auditions will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, with callbacks at 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, in the Clark State Performing Arts Center Turner Studio Theatre.

Actors should preregister for auditions at https://forms.gle/QMmpokrjn67izTP97 and prepare a 1-minute contemporary comedic monologue for auditions. A headshot and resume are preferred.

The show will be directed by Paden Frank and Aleksandra (Sasha) Kozlova.

“The show was slated for Fall 2021, but with the Covid trends, it had to be postponed,” said Theresa Lauricella, Professor and Coordinator, Theatre Arts Program.

Lauricella said Frank also directed the TAP show "Check Please" last fall and brings co-director, Sasha Kozlova, a 2020 Clark State Theatre Arts Program graduate.

“Sasha has many Theatre Program acting credits, including Maggie in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,  Alais in The Lion in Winter, and Marlow in She Stoops to Conquer; however, Red Herring will mark her directing debut,” said Lauricella.

Auditions are open to all Clark State students, staff, faculty, and alumni. The community is also welcome to audition.

"Red Herring” combines three love stories, a murder mystery, and a nuclear espionage plot converge in this noir comedy about marriage and other explosive devices. It’s 1952: America’s on the verge of the H-bomb, Dwight Eisenhower’s on the campaign trail, and I Love Lucy’s on Monday nights. Meanwhile, Senator Joe McCarthy’s daughter just got engaged to a Soviet spy, and Boston detective Maggie Pelletier has to find out who dumped the dead guy in the Harbor – or else lose out on a honeymoon in Havana. A blunt-nosed, sharp-eyed look at love and tying (and untying, and retying) the knot.

Rehearsals begin September 12 with weekend performances in the Turner Studio Theatre from October 28 - November 6, 2022.  Find more information about the performances at http://pac.clarkstate.edu/shows
