Clark State to Hold 60th Anniversary Celebration, Community Welcomed

June 13, 2022

Clark State College will hold a special event on Thursday, June 30, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., to celebrate 60 years of student and community success. The informal event will be held outside on the grounds of Springfield’s main campus, 570 East Leffel Lane, behind the Sara T. Landess building and the Eagle’s Nest.

The festival-style celebration is open to students, employees, retirees, alumni and the community and the college will be closed during this time so that everyone can attend.

The event will include a variety of activities and outdoor games, including corn hole, volleyball, whiffle ball, and more.  The food will be catered by Fresh Abilities offering hamburgers and hotdogs, smoothies, soft pretzels and healthy options, too.

Engage and learn about our College schools, departments and programs as they get creative with their booths to compete for the grand prize of “Best In Booth.”

Clark State will also be taking suggestions for what to include in the 60th Anniversary Time Capsule which will be displayed in a special location at the end of 2022.

Throughout Clark State’s 60 years, the College has received numerous accolades for its achievements in diversity, equity and inclusion, workforce development, community partnerships and outreach, and educational milestones. The economic impact of Clark State on Champaign, Clark, Greene and Logan Counties is in excess of $161 million dollars annually.

While Clark State’s mission remains the same: to engage and empower diverse learners by providing high-quality educational programs and services that emphasize student and community success, the College will continue to keep striving forward.

“This fun, informal event continues the 60th Anniversary celebration of Clark State’s founding as a college,” said Dr. Jo Alice Blondin, president of Clark State. “We look forward to joining the community and coming together at this event for a time of fellowship and commemoration.”

Those interested in attending the event, please RSVP to Lori Common at commonl@clarkstate.edu no later than June 15 to assist with planning for refreshments.
